  53. WINDOWS 3.1 is an 8-bit operating system, video and animations may be sluggish.

  81. USER TIPS
  82. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  83. 1. Instructions in the product are written on screen and voiced, but don't be afraid to 
  84. move your mouse around to explore.
  85.  
  86. 2. On screens where more than one typing field occurs, you can either move your 
  87. mouse and cursor to the appropriate field, or you can use your tab key to tab to each 
  88. active field.

  90. 3. On screens with video segments, clicking on the video with your mouse will play 
  91. the video again.

  93. 4. You are given the option to print in several locations in the product. Upon exiting 
  94. the program you will also have the option to print all of your input data or save it to 
  95. a text file.

  99. OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE

  101. There are many things you can do to optimize the performance of The Alliance CD. 
  102. Consider the following list of options:
  103.  
  104. 1. Make sure that your monitor’s resolution is set to 256 colors.
  105.  
  106. 2. Make sure that you have a current, functional version of QuickTime or QuickTime 
  107. for Windows. Otherwise video and animations will not work. On the Macintosh be sure 
  108. that QuickTime has not been disabled in your Extensions Manager.
  109.  
  110. 3. If you are running other applications in the background—no matter how simple or 
  111. complex the application—performance may suffer.  Quit all applications other than 
  112. The Alliance CD.
  113.  
  114. 4. If you are on a network or on the Internet, your chances of experiencing freezes, 
  115. crashes, and poor video/audio are much greater than if you are not.
  116.  
  117. 5. If you have been running any memory-intensive applications prior to running 
  118. The Alliance CD, restart your machine before running the program.
  119.  
  120. 6. If the total memory requirement of your system software and this program 
  121. approaches the limits of your machine’s total RAM, performance will suffer. 
  122. Consider upgrading your machine’s memory.
  123.  
  124. 7.  On the Macintosh try turning off your computer’s Virtual Memory.
